Almost in Your Back Yard

The history of Green Meadows Farm, about 20 miles from here, is an inspiring and heart-warming story.   http://www.gmfarm.com/history

Green Meadows is a local farm devoted to sustainable agriculture; the CSA shares can include vegetables as well as meats.  The farm offers great classes for young people (starting at age 3!) to experience hands-on learning about growing and raising food as well as for adults wanting to learn about edible landscaping or attend a Table Harvest Dinner, where the grower dines with the guests. And who can resist the baby farm animals? (See photo below.)

Not far from the Green Meadows Farm is another farming  success story.  Marini Farm is in its third generation of family farming, since 1928.  The CSA shares for this year are understandably sold out.    The Marini Farm tradition of growing fresh vegetables is a local legend; once you taste their fresh tomatoes, picked so frequently for their farm stand that they are often still warm from the sun, you will never eat a “styrofoam” tomato again.  The heads of lettuce are enormous and sweet.  And their sweet corn is infamous.
